Al Raha Beach Bridges – Abu Dhabi

The two bridges designed form a part of Al Raha Beach Resort Project. These bridges structures provide access to Royal Chalets to be built on artificial islands (i.e. landfills). Each bridge has two traffic lanes with total carriageway WIDTH OF 6.0m and 0.75m wide sidewalks on either side of the deck. The permitted traffic speed on the bridges is 60kph.

Each bridge comprises of a constant depth post-tensioned in – situ concrete single cell box girder deck. Supported on reinforced concrete piers / abutments, with 0.80. Meter diameter bored in-situ concrete piles. In-situ construction will require construction of cofferdams to construct foundations and superstructure. the overall length of Bridge-to- Royal Chalet-1 is 100 meters while Bridge to-Royal Chalet 2 is 50 meters long. All spans are 25 meters each. The bridge decks are continuous with integral abutments eliminating expansion joints altogether. The joint free structure provides better riding quality, enhances the durability of the structure and reduces maintenance cost. Approach slabs at abutments are 10 meters in length with asphaltic plug joints at the beginning of each approached slab.

The bridges superstructures are supported on pot bearings due to their better rotational capacity. All bearings are replaces, jacking points are provided.
