Peshawar Torkham Expressway


In order to promote the International Trade through our ports, need of good road network is essential therefore NHA decided to take up the Peshawar Torkham Expressway Project on priority to attract the International Trade Traffic for middle-east market and other parts of the world.

National Highway Authority (NHA) intends to construct a 4-lane access control facility with design speed 80 km/hr in flat terrain and 50 km/hr in mountainous terrain starting from Jamrud Check Post and ends at Pak Afghan Border a Torkham. The length of the project is 50 km and it is divided in two sections.

Section-I:

The first section (33.5 km) starts from end point of Peshawar Northern Bypass at Takhta Baig Bridge near Jamrud. Out of 33.5 km, first 27 km. have been designed by Engineering Associates while the rest of 6.5 km designed by A. A. Associates.

Section-II:

From end point of Section-I up to Torkham Border i.e. 17.5 km length has been designed by A. A. Associates.

The project cost of this NHA (National Highway Authority) project: is Rs. 5.0 billion (Section-I only)

The project started in January 2007 and ended in December 2008.
